Melanie Fisher received her Bachelors of Science in Ceramics from State University of New York at Buffalo State College. She was a leader in the undergraduate studio, but her sense of professionalism came after graduating. She spent three years working at Buffalo Arts Studio, and she was able to set up multiple exhibitions both solo, and with other artists. She has shown in many galleries in Buffalo and Rochester in New York, including Burchfield Penney Art Center, and Indigo Art Gallery. She also traveled to residencies during this time, including Red Gate in Beijing, China, and Ayatana in Ottawa, Canada. Traveling is important to her body of work because she uses her surrounding environment as a major influence, collecting organic material while exploring new landscapes. Melanie has recently been working on immersive installations using mixed media, including a twelve foot tall tree sculpture for Play/Ground, in Medina, New York. Currently, She is a Post Baccalaureate student at Indiana University Southeast, working towards her professional career as a ceramic artist.
